Brief Encounters

Full Title: Brief Encounters: Meetings With Remarkable People
Author / Editor: Gyles Brandreth
Publisher: Politicos Publishers, 2001

Review © Metapsychology Vol. 8, No. 45
Reviewer: Wyndham Perring

Brandreth likes to portray himself
as lightweight — a bit if a dilettante, chat show host sort of thing, whereas
this book, a selection of interviews of well known people, plus the fact that
he was able to obtain some of the interviews, clearly shows that he is an
author and a man of both knowledge and depth.

I will not comment upon the
personalitites who display their qualities and faults and in the case of some,
overpowering, unjustified egos, as Brandreth does this in a subtle and clever
way.  The fact is, this is a marvelous
book that may be picked up and enjoyed, each interview being
self-contained.  You will learn
surprising facts and be much entertained.
Highly recommended.
