New Sex Nowis a
58-minute DVD in which Clint Arthur explains and demonstrates to men how to
give women G-spot orgasms and ejaculations.
For much of the DVD, Arthur sits in front of a tree outside in the open,
talking straight to the camera. He is a
relaxed host, with an easy smile and confidence in what he is talking
about. The production values are low:
the pictures on the DVD box look like they were printed on a bad color printer,
the editing is quite rough, and the titles that lead each section look like
they are done with a pretty cheap software package. There are cuts to scenes of Arthur demonstrating what he is
saying, with "Melody X," a name that suggests she might be a porn
actress. The fact that she and Arthur
have not previously had sex confirms this impression, and both of the pair
would not be out of place in a porn video.
The scenes of the couple engaged in sexual activity look like they were
shot in a hotel room, with the camera staying basically in one position using
different zooms to create some variety.
Some viewers may find the unpolished feel of the DVD off-putting.
Yet this clearly is an instructional DVD with
explicit directions about what a man should do in order to produce a G-spot
orgasm. Arthur emphasizes the
importance of relaxation and trust between the couple, and tells the man to
give the woman a sensual massage at the start.
Clearly it is not necessary for the couple to be in a long-term relationship,
but there needs to be a connection between the two people, according to
Arthur. He proceeds to give the same
sorts of directions about digital manipulation that are available in many sex
manuals, so his advice is within the "mainstream" of current sexual
knowledge concerning the G-spot. Of
course, there has been debate in the past about the reality of the G-spot and
female ejaculation, and certainly it seems to be an experience currently
restricted to a relatively small proportion of women, but there is no doubt
that many women are perfectly sure that it is real. Arthur claims that his "research" indicates that at
least 90% women are capable of G-spot orgasms, although he doesn’t provide any
sort of evidence.
New Sex Now is an unusual sort of guide,
quite different from more conventional "sex instruction" videos and
DVDs with their ponderous experts and carefully demonstrated sexual
positions. It is a little "down
market," and is probably most appropriate for viewers who are not
uncomfortable with explicit pornography.
It seems to provide pretty good advice and it may be helpful to those
who prefer learning from videos rather than books.
