This collection of stories from the life of Rob Maisch is in
comic book form, illustrated in black and white by various new artists using
comic book form.  There is one by Robyn
Chapman, one by Nick Rummel, one by Brett Weldele, one by Brett Weldere &
Lee Oaks, two by Lee Oaks, three by James Vining, one by Paul Hudson, one by
Phillip Craven, and finally one by Maisch himself.  The artists took a course in "Getting Published" at the
Sequential Art Department at Savannah College of Art & Design, and these
works of narrative art are the results of their efforts.  The stories span from Maisch’s high school
days in the late 1960s to his post-divorce middle age.  They are amusing anecdotes, but there’s no
great drama in them, and so this collection seems more like a slightly
self-indulgent exercise rather than a project with a central artistic theme or
goal.  On the other hand, there are no
great pretensions here either; this is just a collection of funny episodes from
one man’s life, and as such, this is an enjoyable work.
