Ellison the Elephant is a
picture book and audio CD for young children. Ellison is a young elephant who
can’t make a trumpet blast like the other elephants, and he wishes he could.
He can only make a little toot. But he meets up with a weasel, who banters
with him and helps him to practice and find his own sound. Ellison goes back
to his herd and everyone really likes it, and now Ellison is proud of his
tuneful noise. The audio CD is performed by a few adults and children, and
they use sound effects and music to bring alive the story. The illustrations
by James Muscarello are very attractive, with nice drawing and pleasant
colors. Author Eric Drachman has a B.A. in Psychology and the book has a
simple lesson to learn about finding your own voice, which could be helpful to
young children. This is a lot of fun.
