Lillian in Love is about an on-going romantic union between two women who have begun to come together to see if they can take their relationship to a higher level. One of the women, Lillian, had always been straight while the other, Sarah had identified as a lesbian all of her of her life.
The cover of this 209 page romantic novel is extraordinary and a precursor for what is to come.
Being in her eighties, 84 to be exact, Lillian moved to The Manor, a residence for seniors to be near Sarah. Lillian stays in a friend’s apartment at The Manor who has gone away for several weeks. One might think the road to intimacy for a woman who had been happily married to a man for decades prior to meeting and falling in love with a woman might be painful. But there is only a sincere curiosity regarding the depth and breadth of this union and what it means to both of them.
Though Sarah had resisted getting involved with women who were straight she knows how to recognize, give and receive love once it is obvious it is here to stay, so she is as curious as Lillian about their future together. But of course life takes a turn we, the reader would not expect. In that turn the transition between the two lovers is surprising!
Katz’s writing presents you with multiple aspects of an integrated reality, sensitivity and whimsicality that allows for depth as the life experience and distinctions between her main characters breathe freely from page to page. For example: Emmanual is a gentleman employed by the Manor who bonds with Lillian in a way which reminds both of them that while they are in unfamiliar surroundings they are not alone. And by now we are spoiled as Katz writes with such ease and clarity we are moved by each connection in The Manor.
Katz also gives you an array of gifts as you read Lillian in Love such as permission to grow, the right to embrace the demanding nuances and fluctuations between mortality & immortality and its impact upon the mind, heart, body and soul … plus insights into the fullness of life and love combined.
I recommend letting yourself in on kindness, love, healing, truth, compassion, grace and lust by sitting down, relaxing and reading Lillian in Love today.
