Chelsea Hander is New Jersey comedian with a show on the E! channel, who has appeared on a number of other TV shows as herself or in an acting role. My Horizontal Life is about her sex life, although it reads more like a stand-up comedy routine. The chapter titled "My Little Nugget" starts out "I think we can all agree that sleeping around is a great way to meet people." Most of the chapters have a wise-cracking tone, although we get to know about her relationships, her family and her friends. Her stories are not particularly sexual and don't try to be erotic: mainly they try to be funny and a little shocking. She complains about a man with a small penis, about her annoying gay friend Nathan, about the man who took her back to his apartment and appeared in a leather neck brace /helmet and a black leather holster, about her 28-year-old roommate Dumb Dumb who was a virgin, and so on. Some of her stories are amusing, while others will leave you flat. She can be sharp-witted and a little cruel, but she also puts herself down. I didn't find this memoir either memorable or illuminating, but it was mildly entertaining.
