Finally, a book that I wasn’t
embarrassed to bring into the bedroom or display on my nightstand. A long
overdue sex manual actually written by someone who isn’t old enough for
Medicare, this book is a thoroughly enjoyable manual geared toward enhancing
our sexual pleasures. Unstuffy, well-written and a pleasure to read, this
manual is a long overdue look at the way we have sex today.
Filled with chapters that are
actually interesting to read, along with “exercises” that are without a doubt,
enjoyable, I cannot remember the last time homework was this much fun. The
exercises are an excellent way to explore many new positions, ideas and toys.
Touching on subjects that other
manuals seem to either ignore or tend to move swiftly past, this manual
educates the reader on safe sex, vibrators, anal sex and H.I.V among other
things.
Some of the exercises would have
been easier to understand had they been accompanied by photos (I’m still trying
to figure the “dildo in the cul-de-sac” position). However, most of the
positions were relatively easy to figure out. The exercises were pretty cutting
edge, I especially enjoyed reading the Tom Jones dinner exercise (think the
food scene in 9 ½ Weeks amped up a bit).
An excellent manual for just about
anyone who is sexually active.
