This was an easy read… A rainy Sunday afternoon took care of it. I loved it for what it is: A story about a little girl lost in the woods. If I didn’t know that Stephen King was the author, I don’t know if I’d have guessed that he was. There was nothing terribly horrific in it and nothing too deep or having a double meaning. Having a real sports figure as the girl’s guiding star was clever and the little girl was ingenious in her week-long trek through the woods. Like I said — a nice, easy read in which you hope for a happy ending, and you get it. But, really, would a 9-year-old in this day and time even know about Little Black Sambo?
