Lawyer, turned very successful author, playwright,
creator of Rumpole of TV fame, John Mortimer is skilled, readable and
very successful.  This book tells of his
various experiences in different parts of the world, relates stories of his
past wives and children and the rest of his families.

Undoubtedly very readable I have to
admit to finding some of his forays in the areas of gays, lesbians, women with
the morals of a cat and the infighting among his theatrical ‘friends’ were more
designed to color the truth rather than be as factual as he implies. Much of it
was unnecessary and fanciful, making some of the chapters tedious.  Almost unexpectedly, one has to plough on,
so to speak, instead of finding one has finished an amusing read.

For that reason I do not feel
inclined to suggest you rush out and spend your hard earned cash on it.  Borrow from the library or buy it used.
