Two Little Girls in Blue is
a lightweight mystery novel.  It has a relatively simple plot: Steve Frawley
works for a large financial company.  He and his wife Margaret live in
Connecticut suburbs.  Their three-year-old twin girls Kathy and Kelly are
kidnapped by Clint and Lucas.  Clint’s disturbed girlfriend Angie is looking
after the twins until they get they will be returned to the parents.  The kidnapping
has been organized by the mysterious figure "the Pied Piper," who
demands 8 million dollars from the Frawleys, who have no spare cash.  Will the
FBI be able to save the twins, and who is the Pied Piper?  Various suspicious
figures populate the novel, and the reader’s task is to correctly guess the
culprit before the mystery is revealed by the author.

The most interesting feature of the
novel is the amazing telepathic connection between the twin girls, who not only
are able to talk to each other when they are separated, but also experience
each other’s feelings.  Apart from that, the distress of the parents and the
tensions between the kidnappers are portrayed in hasty clichéd language, and
little of the plot is either credible or convincingly described.  Events flow
fast, and the book will hold your attention so long as you have low
expectations.  Clark writes with the brisk proficiency of an author who churns
out suspense novels.  The abridged audiobook is read by Jan Maxwell, who brings
life to the different characters but performs with just enough melodrama to
make sure readers are not tempted to take the plight of the girls too
seriously.
